Chicago lawyer Sydney Knight and Texas bull rider Jace McGowan have nothing in common but everything to lose when they are thrust together during a weekend rodeo in rural Illinois. Neither one of them would have imagined two years ago that the deep attraction they sensed during a day-long outing would resurface when Sydney's boss assigns her to Jace's legal case.

Sydney has been through a world of hurt since losing her dad when she was sixteen, then being dumped the morning of her wedding. She's sworn off romance and instead devotes her time toward a partnership in her father's law office.

Jace has found faith in God and wants out of his sponsor contract with a risqué restaurant chain that requires him to pose with scantily-clad women. He's about to bail on the contract and pay steep penalties—something he can ill afford, given that his deceased father left the family with unpaid taxes.

Sydney is determined she'll get Jace out of his contract and return to Chicago with her heart intact, but Jace is just as determined to help her see they're meant to be together. Can a city girl with roots deep in Chicago and a bull-riding rancher with roots deep in Texas give themselves a second chance at love?

Written for the General Market (G) (I) Contains little or no; sexual dialogue or situations, violence, or strong language. May also contain some content of an inspirational/religious nature. Sydney Knight has paid her dues. Following in her father’s footsteps she got her law degree and went to work in the law firm he co-founded. Stuck in the “research” department, she feels more than ready to step into trial lawyer shoes and she especially feels ready for the partnership she’s been working toward. When would her boss take her seriously and when would he give her something she could sink her teeth into?
Called into the boss’s office, Sydney is not exactly thrilled when she gets her wish because her wish comes with a stubborn bull rider attached. Jace McGowan is one of the top bull riders on the national circuit and is fully expected to take top honors in the NFR cumulative points. The problem? He wants to back out of his remaining contract with his sponsor, Frisky’s Restaurant, because the Christianity he’s embraced conflicts with the scantily clad models they keep posing with him. He’s prepared to walk away and chance a lawsuit and it’s Sydney’s job to make sure he at least negotiates an end to his contract.
As Sydney spends time with Jace, she sees the changes he’s made. His “love ‘em and leave ‘em” persona is gone, replaced by a man of integrity. She also sees a man who can out-stubborn her! Sydney and Jace fell for each other the last time they spent time together. Can they keep their hearts intact when she’s big city Chicago, afraid of horses and he’s Texas ranch, practically born on one?
This is the second book I’ve read by Pamela S. Meyers and I loved the story! Both main characters were easy to like but Sydney was so focused on proving herself that she completely missed the possibilities in front of her. To me, her story was all about trusting where God is leading her and being willing to rethink her dreams. I also liked that Meyers didn’t paint Jace as being too perfect. He still struggled with the man he used to be and those very struggles made him much more human.
Romance readers will definitely enjoy this one and if you like a good cowboy hero, that’s just another reason to pick this one up!

Second Chance Love edition by Pamela S Meyers Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

She’s a lawyer and her boss assigns her to work with his nephew, the rodeo star. She has issues of abandonment Jace has to work really hard to show her that he loves her. Eventually his faith and Gods love work their magic
Enjoyed this clean book very much. It included some suspense and romance Allowing God to direct your life isn't always easy but is very rewarding in the end. Loved the book- good read
I always love reading books by this author. I love the mix of happiness and problems. She does a great job with examples of human emotions. Her theme is always to trust God
I am only about a third through the story and I am just loving it! Haven't read much lately due to illness and concentration issues, but this story is lifting me up! Jace and Sydney have chemistry, I love them together and yet they are cautious with each other. I like how the author lets you "read" their thoughts" as they are thinking through their situation. Very clever work, moves quickly and keeps you wanting to know more. Finding it hard to put down and that is a huge thing for me. My reading fire has been stoked!
Jace and Sydney's story was an interesting one. Jace realizes his love for Sydney almost immediately after their reacquaintance. Sydney has strong feelings for Jace, but has been deeply hurt before. As Jace tries to show Sydney his love, she keeps backing away. I kept thinking this is how most women want to be treated and what in the world is Sydney thinking. All ends well and Jace and Sydney do have their happily ever after. This is a good book for those who fall in love with strong, tender cowboys who aren't afraid to show their love and affection.
I always read the negative reviews to see what people didn't like about a book I read- this time they were wrong,or maybe just have their world colored by their own lives- which makes reading reviews as fun as reading the book itself. This book made me want to "Let go and let God. I feel Sydney's pain- after 3 bad marriages, I was not ready to do it again- even with a boyfriend of 12 years. Well, this book helped me decide to take the plunge and we will be married soon. This was a fun read, I loved all the characters- not sure what the one guy meant by minor characters- they all blended perfectly. I love it when a book touches something inside of me and obviously this one sure did!
Sydney Knight carries too much baggage to ever let another man into her life. Just because she’s attracted to bull rider Jace McGowan and he says all the right things, doesn’t mean that they should be together. She’ll talk Jace into renegotiating his contract with a restaurant chain like her boss wants and then leave Jace in the dust of the rodeo. All dreams were not meant to come true.

Jace has never forgotten the beautiful woman he’d spent the day with two years ago, and when she resurfaces in his life, he wants more this time. His newfound faith has given him a new perspective, and he’s ready to build a family - if it’s with the right woman. He’s sure Sydney is the one, but how can he convince the stubborn woman.

The characters talk and act but little else. They seem very shallow, especially Sydney. Jace manipulates things to be around Sydney, and she rigidly tries to avoid him. That just about makes up the whole plot, and I became bored with it and them. A few things happened to other people I didn’t know much about, so I didn’t care much about the outcome. Sydney was way too self-absorbed, and I didn’t find her very likable. I ended up having to force myself to finish it. Some of the mistakes included “To who?” for “To whom?” “whom” for “who” used in the nominative case, and a sentence that made little sense to me “Lips that had sent her heart soaring into the ether more than two years ago.” The ending was better, and bumped the rating up some.
