...Dizziness and nausea overwhelmed me and I uncontrollably hurled. Thankfully I hadn’t eaten or consumed any liquids in quite a few weeks, and I only dry heaved...

Jack Duffy's highly anticipated meeting with the high council is upon him.

With the assistance of a long lost friend, Jack scrambles to recreate the last seventy-two hours that have been mysteriously removed from his memory. With each flip of the coin, he discovers much more about Hauser, himself, and the Sentinel. In the end, Jack learns that even in the afterlife, not everything is fair. Jack must once again decide what is right for the soul that he's sent to collect, and how it directly relates to his own fate.

The Surrogate Soul is the seventh and final part in a serialized novel. Each part is priced around a buck, save for the 7th and final part which is a couple bucks, due to it's length. At any point, you can grab the completed project, titled The Borrowed Souls, A Novel, for around five bucks.

This final story brings back all the characters and Jack's helpers, Wilson is like an old friend from the past. Jack travels to the Sentinel to tell them about Enoch's appearances and his interferring and stealing souls meant to be collected by Jack. Then Jack ends up with a nasty bump on his head and eh and Wilson try to figure out how it happened.

"I shook my head in utter confusion. "you know, Hauser...just lead the way. I shouldn't be surpriesd about anthing that you tell me on how things work in the afterlife."

"Here I was, the most recent recruit to the soul collecting ranks of the afterlife, being thrust into the presence of some truly great people. Despite their historically benevolent natures, I was unsure just how compassionate they'd be if they fully realized my most recent past."

This last book was an absolute pleasure to read. The creativity of this author really shone through these chapters. From the famous people around the Sentinel table, to how the story wrapped up and how I felt when it was all complete. Excellent, well done. Can't say enough about this series.

The finish of a 7 part series or novellas that completes the borrowed souls. The main character after many attempts to catch he nemesis finally, with some help from friends, completes his current assignment. The difference in this situation he is able to reverse the process. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER
What a book! A soul collector, a former living person who was chosen and accepted the job of retrieving the souls of the newly dead (and is invisible) wakes up (they don't need sleep) not knowing where he is, how he got there, or how he got the gash on his head. As soul collectors travel by thought and can walk right through things these things were of great concern to him. You'll have to read this book to enjoy this exciting adventure of the soul collector.
Jack Duffy, the reluctant soul collector is back. This time he has to go before the high council, a group of twelve whom I found interesting and remarkable. The council is going to help Jack with a problem, as another of his kind has gone bad and must be stopped. The author has done a great job on this last book in the series as he takes a look at the afterlife and all that goes with it. The author has an easy style of writing that makes the reader feel invited and comfortable as they turn page after page of such an intriguing and innovative story. Paul B. Kohler knows what a reader likes and delivers it time after time.
